Stomach bugs, hair loss and tantrums, oh my!

Well, I have not been very good at keeping up with this blog so far.  It's amazing how fast the days have been going.  The last couple of weeks have been a bit of a blur.  We had a very sick household, so my work load felt like it doubled.  It started out with Max getting a cough and Evelyn had a runny nose.  Fortunately, Evelyn never really got much sicker than that, but poor Max got it bad.  On top of the cough he had a nasty stomach bug (I'll spare the details) which led to a horrific diaper rash that lasted for days, and a sore throat.  At least we think he had a sore throat since he had no interest in swallowing his food.  He preferred to hold it in his mouth then spit it out.  He ended up losing over 2 pounds, which is a lot when you only weigh 28 to begin with.  There is really nothing worse than having a sick child and not being able to do much about it.  It was heartbreaking to see him so miserable.   I also got a cold at the same time the kids were sick, and just as I was getting better, Matt got Max's bug and was down for almost a week.  For those of you who know Matt, you know he NEVER gets sick, so it was frustrating for all of us.  On the plus side, an angel in the form of Grandma came to save the day.  Matt's mom Sue was here for the worst of it all.  She came for about 4 days and was so, so helpful.  I'm sure it wasn't her ideal trip with the grand kids, but I don't know what I would have done without all her help.  Now everyone is up and running, so I am too.  Ha! Ha!  Max threw a tantrum yesterday when I wouldn't give him another snack before dinner, and I was smiling on the inside because I knew that meant he was feeling like his old self again.

In other news, I am experiencing one last postpartum symptom- hair loss.  BIG fun.  I had the same thing happen with Max, so I'm not worried.  I actually have been finding it easier to style my hair when there's less of it.  I am a bit annoyed by the fact that now everything in our house is not only covered in dog hair, it's also covered in Colleen hair as well.  Oh well, what can you do?

So that's about all that's been going on around these parts over the last couple of weeks.  I'm posting some pictures of the kids feeling better.  You can see how gaunt Max's face is after his ordeal, but his appetite is back and we're getting him back to his cherubic self.  I also have a video I took while getting them changed and dressed for the day.  Max kept running to his room to get more stuffed animals for me to hold.  He is all about his stuffed buddies these days.  Enjoy!
